Discover an Old Olive Oil Mill
The Mill's Story
Build in the 14th century, the mill is located at the foot of the Coudon mount near the oldest olive grove in Provence, where each tree tells the story of an ancestral past. In the same family heritage for 4 generation, the mill carries on the lively tradition of a community who shares, and there is no better expression of such spirit than the harvest of the olives. It is now open to the public all year round for visits and guided tours.
There one can witness the 2 alternative oils process operations: the traditional one is based on the wheel grinding process and leads to the first cold pressure oil, nowadays technique uses the modern facilities to obtain the same result.
This allows guests to taste different oils in the shop, those have conquered great chefs & are regularly awarded a prize.
English guided tours:
- The dedicated team whose services are recognizes ''QUALITY TOURISM'' offers the visitor a free guided tour of this unique site followed by an oil as well as Provencal products tasting.
- During the tour, you will first discover the scenic background with a Gallo-Roman aqueduct and a water wheel of 8.5.m of diameter. On the grounds, you will have the opportunity to visit the old mill with is grinding wheel and an old press still in operation in November for the famous first cold pressure. You can also discover the modern mill equipment which complies with European standards requirements and corresponds to the latest technology for oil extraction.
- The tour ends with an olive oil tasting along with other Provencal products.
