Le Cimentier

A wreck accessible from level 1!

WRECK STORY...
The origin of the sinking of the Cimentier is still uncertain. The generally accepted hypothesis is that the Cimentier was deliberately sunk by the German army during the Second World War, in order to "break" the wave that formed between the north-western tip of the Ile de Porquerolles and the Ile du Petit Langoustier, on days of strong mistral winds. It's one of the few wrecks accessible to Level 1 divers, and the ideal place to discover wreck diving. There are no currents and little swell, as the site is protected by the nearby Ile de Porquerolles.

FAUNA AND FLORA
Girelles and Castagnoles banks. In spring, a multitude of large squid settle on the site.
