La pointe de la Croix

Pointe de la Croix is located on the south side of Port-Cros island, just after Pointe du Vaisseau and to the east of the famous Gabinière spot.

The topography of the Pointe de la Croix is similar to that of the Pointe de Montrémian, i.e. a long rocky ridge a few meters high, surrounded by posidonia.

You descend along the main ridge to the sand at 30 m, before climbing back up in the opposite direction. A second ridge lies to the west of the main ridge at around 50-70 m. A huge colony of white gorgonians and numerous sponges have taken up residence here.

The fauna includes groupers and schools of sars, as well as girelles, moray eels and barbier eels. Beware: the site is exposed to an easterly wind, so currents are frequent, both on the surface and at the bottom.
