What is the National Marine Museum?

Located in the heart of Toulon, the museum retraces the history and evolution of the Navy and of the arsenal of Toulon through the centuries. The evolution of the warships is presented in chronological order, from the ground floor to the first floor.

Museum’s features

Discover the history of the arsenal, from the merchant port to the first military port of Europe today.

Contemplate the paintings of Joseph Vernet. Discover the biggest rope-making of France designed by the well-known Vauban, but also the magnificent models built for the sailor’s instruction and the monumental sculptures centuries-old. Appreciate then the technical innovations during the industrial revolution of the 19th century. Experience the WW2 and the scuttling of the French fleet in 1942. Admire finally a torpedo, models of submarines and aircraft carriers.
