From Medieval Food Crops to the AOC Bandol Vineyards
The domain “La Font des Pères” owes its name to a spring and to the settlement in the 13th century of a religious community. There, monks would grow both vines and food crops. Nowadays, La Font des Pères displays its nearly 35 acres of terraced vineyard plots on a largely open scenic hilly countryside.
These vineyards are fully dedicated to produce A.O.C. Bandol wines (a protected registered designation) mostly from Mourvèdre, Clairette & Grenache grape varieties. A wind cooled, dry and sunny location combined to the nearby sea influence particularly suits the development of Mourvèdre quality grapes. Meanwhile reds are produced on the higher terraced plots, whites and rosés are processed from the lower terraces where the soil is richer.
The grapes handpicking & the carefully designed wine making processes result in the wines you will be able to sample on the property, caviar tasting will complement this memorable experience.
In addition to the unmissable cellar, the domain features a restaurant where visitors may enjoy a delightful lunch while taking in the views from the surrounding wealthy countryside. After lunch time to join a Petanque game!
Planning on a longer stay or while on a cruise extension, the property also provides B&B accommodation.
