Story of the Victorias
In 1892, the Château was visited by Queen Victoria, during her stay in Hyères. At the same time, the owner's greatgrandmother, little Victoria Constant, learned at the age of 8 that she had the same first name as the famous and powerful Queen of England who was staying in Hyères.
Victoria then asked her parents to go and meet her and the whole family decided to go down to Hyères. On the way, Victoria noticed the Château de la Clapière and instantly fell in love with it. She made a short stop there and took the opportunity to pick violets for the Queen. A few hours later,
young Victoria met the Queen and offered her the violets she had picked.
