The botanical garden of the Balaguier museum was created in 2008 around the plants' voyage and the botanical garden of Toulon's navy.
With its panoramic view of the sea, the garden is made up of ten small themed spaces which evoke the plants' journey and their acclimatisation in the bay of Toulon:
• The garden of fragrances, where aromatic plants rule the roost: sage, rosemary, lavender and many more
• The garden of journeys with plants from Australia: eucalyptus, acanthus, to name but a few
• The grass garden: sedge, miscanthus
• The garden of cacti and succulents
• The Asian garden: black bamboo, water hyacinths
• The exotic garden: ferns, birds of paradise, cycas and the like
• The garden of industrial and tinctorial plants: flax, indigo
• The citrus fruit garden: mandarin trees, lemon trees, bitter orange trees
• The medicinal herb garden: verbena, geranium, camomile and others
• The vegetable patch: heirloom tomatoes, Jerusalem artichokes and many more.
