Bandol
Vineyards Capital of Provence
With its hilltop villages such as La Cadière d'Azur, clinging to the side of a cliff, or the 12th century medieval village of Le Castellet perched on a woody peak and surrounded by its original city walls, Bandol's inland countryside is one of the most typical of Provence.
The thousand and one fragrances for their herbs, fruits and vegetables float over the local markets and give our Provencal cuisine all its sumptuous flavour. And stretching out between the sun filled garrigue and the pinewoods, on terraces known in Provence as "restanques", are the famous vineyards of Bandol. Overlooking its superb and sundrenched bay, nestling between the richly scented Mediterranean hillsides, Bandol is one of the largest and oldest sea resorts on the French Riviera. Many sandy beaches border the bay.
